What makes a RRRAY fan special?
The RRRAY fan reinterprets a familiar object through new manufacturing techniques and a radical design. Where ornament is traditionally carried by fabric, the RRRAY fan draws its character from the interplay of materials, movement and light. A concealed rear mechanism allows the aluminium edge and 3D-printed body to take centre stage, transforming the fan into a more sculptural object. Designed as much as an object of ornament as a tool for cooling, it offers a different experience in hand: denser, more graphic. It slows down the gesture, while still allowing for a crisp, resonant opening. Made for contemporary uses, the RRRAY fan prioritises strength and longevity. It finds its place as naturally in a handbag as on a bathroom shelf, by the pool, at a dinner table and long into the night.
How is it made and what is it made from?
The RRRAY fan is produced in small series and individually assembled by hand in Paris, France. Its body is 3D-printed from European-sourced, fully recyclable PETG. Its aluminium edge, organza ribbon and nylon thread are also sourced in Europe, then carefully assembled into the final piece. Unlike traditional manufacturing methods that rely on moulds, 3D printing allows greater freedom in form, detail and production. Please note that subtle variations and surface characteristics inherent to the manufacturing process may naturally occur from one piece to another.
Can it get wet?
Yes, within reasonable everyday use. Unlike most fans made from wood, paper or fabric, the RRRAY fan is designed to better withstand humidity, splashes and incidental contact with liquids. Its resistance to humidity makes it particularly well suited to environments such as bathrooms, where it can be used to dry skincare products between applications, or to help guide and set spray makeup products. Rinse with clean water if needed, then dry thoroughly afterwards.
Is it scented?
Yes. And re-scentable. To reconnect with the long tradition of the scented fan, each RRRAY fan comes lightly scented with a signature fragrance imagined by Jérôme Di Marino, perfumer at MANE, a French fragrance house founded in 1871. The materials used in the RRRAY fan are virtually odourless and sufficiently textured to retain fragrance for several days, and in some cases several weeks. Creating a personal scented microclimate wherever you go. Once the fragrance has faded, simply re-scent the fan with the perfume of your choice. To help preserve the scent for longer, we recommend storing the fan in its metal case between uses.
Is it repairable?
The RRRAY fan is made to last as long as possible. Depending on the nature of the issue, certain repairs or replacement parts may be possible in order to extend its lifespan. Please contact hello@rrray.world with your order number and photographs of the problem. RRRAY will do its best to help.
